MEDICAL PROTECTIVE POLICY UPDATE
Great news regarding our Death, Disability, or Retirement Endorsement to our Policy…

We are pleased to inform you of a new endorsement to the Death, Disability or Retirement policy provision for
Medical Protective Individual Claims Made Policyholders. This endorsement will be added to all related policies
issued with an effective date or renewal date on or after January 1, 2009.

Our new Death, Disability or Retirement endorsement will make it easier for our individual insureds with claims
made policies to qualify for an extension contract (i.e. “tail”) with no premium charge in the event of permanent
retirement. Here are the highlights:

  •        We are removing the retirement age requirement (presently age 55 in most states)
for tail coverage at no premium charge. Under our new endorsement, an individual
policyholder may be eligible at ANY age!

  •         We are reducing our vesting period for the number of years one must be insured
with Medical Protective. Presently, our standard endorsement language requires you to be
continuously insured with us on a claims made basis for a minimum number of years (3 to 5 years in
most states). Under our new endorsement language, an individual policyholder will become eligible
after a minimum of 1 year* with Medical Protective!

Please note that this notification is intended solely to provide an overview of the new endorsement. For further
details on how this may affect your coverage, we encourage you to thoroughly read your policy and related
endorsements at your upcoming renewal. Also, please note that this notification is not intended in and of itself to
serve as an offer of renewal.

Should you have specific questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your Medical Protective
Service Team (800-4MEDPRO) or your appointed independent agent or broker (Scott Palde at Cornerstone
